Experience

I am passionate about travel and seeing the world.  I am also passionate about Environmental Science and helping my students expand their horizons! It is hard to love somethig you have never seen before so travel is a big part of education in my eyes.  In 2011 we traveled to Costa Rica and in 2013 we traveled to Ireland, Scotland, England, & Wales for 2 weeks.

Previous to 2008, I  taught through MTSU with the METS program, administrated scholarships for the United Methodist Church, and was a Chemist for GM's SATURN Plant in Spring Hill, TN.  I began teaching in Coffee County in 2008 and found that it's undoubtedly my life's calling.   I strive to do better at it everyday.

Bio

I am married, and have adult twin sons attending Tennessee Tech. My mother was a history teacher (Mrs. Coats) at Westwood Junior High for 31 years and taught many of my current student's parents and grandparents.  I consider myself fair, down to earth, organized, and compassionate. I expect 100% from myself and my students.  I am the resident environmental teacher and I own a Prius but I do not consider myself overly "green."  I believe in doing what is right and doing your best always and in all things.  I try to be as responsible as I can in all my choices.  I enjoy finding a "good deal", singing, photography, travel (I've been doing lots of this lately with EF Tours - Rome, Costa Rica, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales...) , swimming, gardening, food preservation (heirloom veggies and canning), milking our Lamancha dairy goats, making home made goats milk cheese and caramel, watching scary or funny movies, surfing the Internet, canoeing, and hiking. I attend Church locally and am a Christian. Take my class if you'd like to know more!
